To help you out, I gathered one of the easiest pergola plan you can use that will surely add up more beauty to your place.

1. Select Site and Set Support Posts

The first thing you need to do is to select the site and make sure that you mark the placement of the four most important posts that will hold and frame the pergola. You can make use of a post-hole digger or even a two-person auger, and then dig holes to a depth of 30″. Next thing you need to do is to add a few inches of gravel to the bottom of the holes for proper source of drainage. Make sure to insert 4″ x 6″ x 10’ posts in each and every holes. It is also important that you make sure the posts are all well level and plumb. Do not forget to attach temporary 2″ x 4″ bracing to hold the pergola in its place. Next is mix fast-drying cement according to manufacturer’s directions and pour this in each hole. Let the cement dry for 24 hours.

2. Attach Joist Beams

Do not forget to cut the joist beams from 2″ x 8″ boards for the roof of the pergola. To create some designs and creative look on the end of the joist beams, you can try to put or draw a curved design on the wood and cut along the line using a jigsaw. Don’t forget to attach the beams to the posts of the pergola using your 3″ lag bolts.

3. Attach Stringers

Overhang the joist beams and after you cut the stringers from 2″ x 6″ boards. Draw a curved design on the wood to create a decorative look on the end of the stringers, using a jigsaw cut along the lines. Using 3″ galvanized deck screws make sure to evenly space the stringers perpendicular to the beams and toenail in its right place.

4. Attach Columns

To the outside of each post using 3″ galvanized deck screws you can easily attach some decorative column, column base and column cap. The columns are bulky and heavy so make sure that you ask for assistance on this part.
